Apparently assembled in the UK equivalent of Stepford, this gaggle of pretty girls has managed to water down centuries of authentic Celtic folk song into something about as tasty as plain yogurt. Everything unpleasant, complex, challenging or profound has been removed, and the result is yet another assembly line collection of musical drivel for PBS to use as bait in their endless quest for funds and to provide a gullible public with yet another excuse to throw away their money.

You know it really ticks me off when people write a review about a CD or DVD that hasn’t been released yet. Are you from the future, did you crawl out of your time machine? Okay, so you saw the performance on PBS, good for you. I’m happy for you. Is this the PBS version? No, it’s not. Do I care how great the PBS version was? No, I don’t. I want to know about the DVD version. So save all your glorious reviews about the PBS version and let’s talk about the relevant product at hand. Until you actually HAVE THE DVD and HAVE WATCHED IT, you really have no business posting a review. Seriously, grow a brain.

Although I am giving this DVD a 5 star rating because I am such a fan and it was done so well. However in reality I should give it a 4 star rating due to the fact that there are 2 of the best tracks missing from this DVD. The 2 tracks that are missing are Alex Sharp’s You’ll Be In My Heart and Lynn’s Carolina Rue. Why EMI has left out these 2 tracks I dont know but they were both filmed at Powerscourt. Having been there and attending the filming I am disapointed that the whole production isn’t being included on the DVD. Other then the missing tracks from the track list on this DVD its a great DVD from what I have seen of it. Hopefully in the future Celtic Woman and EMI will put out another greatest hits DVD with the missing tracks.
Update 1/13/10
See I told you that EMI/Celtic Woman LTD was telling a lie concerning the missing tracks. I know these people in their management personally and I have learned they are not capable of telling anyone the truth. For those that defend them believing their excusses I say take a hard long look at their track record. They are with holding the tracks due to greed. I wont be buying the DVD until all the tracks are released even though Im on the DVD. The PBS version I recorded is fine for me. I expect that I may be getting a copy of the DVD from PBS because Ive bought close to $10,000 in tickets for the upcoming tour. But I dont plan on buying either the DVD or CD. Celtic Woman releases Carolina Rua here on Amazon but not on the DVD. They offer a BS reason for not including it on the DVD. Craig in another posting on here is correct I’ll hold off on buying this DVD.

The show gets four stars… the product gets one.
Not nearly as focused on Celtic music as prior compilations but a great show none-the-less. It’s disappointing not to see any sign that this will be released in HD, especially given the quality of the video I saw on OPB.
Personally I will wait until it is on blu-ray.

I’m Fan what else can I say. The Music is fantastic and the style changes are subtle but very enjoyable. Can’t wait to see what they come up with next..
